I posted before about the great products from QNAP. With the latest firmware for all Intel based devices (TS-x39,TS-x59 and TS-509) many new features specifically suitable for MAX (OSX) users have been added and/or improved. A short list of features:
- iTunes server service
- Time machine backup target over network
- iPhoto library target
- QNAP finder for MAC OSX
- Qget for MAC OSX to add download jobs to your QNAP NAS
- iSCSI target for use of your QNAP NAS as a local drive
Of course all other features from QNAP are available through the web browser of your MAC.

Are these MAC-functions also available on the QNAP NMP-1000??
I am looking for a device that can serve as a NAS (also using time machine and itunes) and which can play music and video directly on my audio and tv.
Something like a combination of Apple time capsule and Apple TV….

Hi David,
Sorry to say that the functions you search for are not available in the NMP-1000. The NMP-1000 is at first a media player, the NAS functionality is a nice secondary.
Apple’s network protocol is of course available.
