Join us at CeBIT 2010 highlights event on 10 March at Breukelen, Netherlands
It has become a successful tradition: Our yearly (after) CeBIT highlights event.
We started this event after receiving a lot of remarks from our partners they were not able to attend the CeBIT because of their busy schedules or just because they didn't like to travel all the way to Hannover Germany. We decided to take up the challenge and create a worthy replacement for our valued partners.
The set-up is simple: we round up a bunch of interesting people from different vendors who then will bring you up to speed on new technologies and products in just 1 day! After the presentations you have the chance to talk to the vendors, look at new products, talk to our account managers and have a drink.
We start at 10.00 and the event ends around 15:30. Check out the program here and see what vendors will be present. Click here to sign up. Before I forget: It's completely free!
See you in Breukelen!

Now shipping from stock: TPLINK MC220L Gigabit Ethernet Media Converter with SFP
I know about a lot of installations where fiber is used where there is no need for a full blown ethernet switch. Or situations where the switches are in place but do not have a fiber or SFP port. Try the TPLINK MC220L; easy to use, great (low) price and good quality.
I have seen a lot of this type of product, basically they are all the same. It's not an exiting or sexy product but they are used in huge amounts. The MC220L has the feature set needed; check out the specifications here. The MC220L has 1 Gb ethernet port and 1 SFP slot which can be filled with a SFP module to your liking.
The MC220L can be used stand alone but also in a 19" rack based chassis (TPLINK MC1400) holding up to 14 Media Converters.
The price is very good: around € 20,- (Listprice, excluding VAT, excluding shipping)

QNAP introduces next generation NAS series based on the new Intel Atom D510 Dual Core CPU’s
The hard working boys and girls at QNAP did it again: they have taken their products to the next level by adopting the brand new Intel Atom Dual Core D510 CPU. This new Atom CPU boosts performance while lowering power consumption: still going green and saving the environment.
There will be a whole new series replacing the TS-x39 series; TS-259Pro, TS-459Pro, TS-659Pro and the TS-859Pro. All new Turbo Station NAS devices have the Intel Atom Dual Core D510 at 1.66 GHz with 1GB fast DDRII RAM on board. With this new series QNAP stays ahead of the competition in their market segment.
New is the VMware ready logo awarded for new enterprise level iSCSI features such as SPC-3 persistent reservation for clustering in VMware and Windows 2008. You can set up a Microsoft cluster environment using the Cluster Shared Volume and also build Hyper-V Clusters and execute virtual machine live migration between Hyper-V hosts. With the support of MPIO (Multipath Input Output) and MC/S (Multiple Connections per Session) on the Turbo NAS, you can connect to the QNAP iSCSI targets using 2 or more network interfaces from your server providing you failover and load balancing services. Furthermore, you can achieve better data transmission performance with MC/S setting.
I look forward getting my hands on these new models, maybe I should replace my current QNAP also.
