New fiber networking switches from ZyXEL: XGS-4000 series, 1Gbps proposition(!)
In the past 8 months we have been working closely with ZyXEL R&D testing and perfecting their XGS4000 ethernet switching products for introduction to the market. All testing was done on the XGS-4728F model which has 24 dual personality (1000Base-T / 1000Base-X SFP) ports, 2 x CX4 12Gbps stacking ports and 2 x 10Gbps XFP slots.
Very soon the model (XGS-4748F) with 48 x 1000Base-X SFP ports, 2 x CX4 12Gbps stacking ports and 2 x 10Gbps XFP slots will be brought to market. We are currently working on fixing the last bugs and adding customer requirements to the switches. All testing was done with the soon to be introduced 1000Base-X residential routing gateway. (over 700Mbps routing/firewalling, VoIP ports, triple play ready and WIFI 802.11N wireless)
Most fiber network designs in western EU are based on 100Base-X, ZyXEL is breaking this trend by introducing an end-to-end 1000Base-X solution for just a little higher cost per port compared to the competitions 100Base-X solution.
These new series switches are state of the art with many features aimed at building large point-to-point active fiber networks. For the aggregation and core layer of the network we have worked with Digital China Networks (DCN) switches. These DCN switches are the final pieces to complete your network and make the total network very cost effective and scalable.
We have samples and have gained much experience with these products by testing and improving for the past 10 months. Much longer then any other party in the west EU market. Do you want us to help you become the best and fastest (internet service) network provider, contact me via the contact page on this blog. Or contact Valadis.
We also have build a complete TR069 provisioning system for CPE (FTTX, xDSL) that is also capable of provisioning IPTV settop boxes. To make the solution complete we can supply knowledge and products and support the integration of the settop box in your IPTV Ecosystem. Try us!

Yay! My blog is exactly 1 month old! :D
Hi All,
29-10-2009 I posted for the first time on my blog!
It's now one month later and I have had 3330 visitors since day 1. It started quite slow with only a few visitors per day. After I optimized my site using search engine friendly links AND installed a plugin that creates a XML sitemap automatically things got moving in the right direction. On average I have 120 unique visitors per day (average over the last week), the number of post views is roughly 280 per day. Not bad considering the type of content I post.
Most popular topics are about:
- Digital China Networks
- QNAP
- TPLINK
- Generic technology

QNAP TS-419P Benchmark Reviews Silver Tachometer Award, awarded 8.8 out of 10
The people at Benchmark Reviews.com have tested and reviewed the QNAP TurboStation TS-419P. This versatile NAS has received the "Silver Tachometer Award" because of the 8.8 out of 10 score.
The TS-419P is based on the brand-new Marvell 1.2GHz CPU with 512MB DDRII memory providing enough power to give great throughput but also run a variety of other applications like:
- Apache webserver with PHP
- MySQL
- iSCSI target and virtual disk aggregating several iSCSI targets
- Asterisk VoIP PBX
- Many multimedia applications
- Printserver
- Download station
- Surveillance station
- much more
- much much more
The TS-419p can hold up to 4 SATA hard drives in 3.5 or 2.5 formfactor.
The QNAP TS-419P Turbo NAS server is going to be an excellent alternative to small data clusters or a file server stuffed with drives. The additional functionality should certainly not go overlooked, because it could save your company money in other departments or cut the cost of buying additional equipment for your home business. The TS-419P offers four bays of SATA storage, allowing RAID configuration possibilities most other all-in-one products cannot offer, and satisfies the storage-space intensive corporate market as well as SOHO power-users at the same time. If you're an IT professional looking to offer a network-attached mass-storage server with redundant data arrays and network failover features, the QNAP TS-419P is great for storage-centric operational needs with a low startup cost.

Now shipping TPLINK TL-WN422G, high gain wireless USB adapter
A lot of wireless networks have dead spots: spaces where the wireless signals are not strong enough to have a stable network connection. In most cases this can be solved by replacing the wireless Access Point (AP) or changing the standard antenna(s) on the AP.
When you are not able (or don't wan to) change the AP changing your wireless client is a fast and easy option. Generic wireless USB adapters have internal antennas with millimetre dimensions, the TPLINK WR422G is not your average adapter in that aspect. The WR422G is equipped with an external 4dBi antenna which can be replaced, the connector on the USB adapter is the industry standard (reverse polarity SMA).
In most cases the 4dBi antenna will solve your problem. But if you are travelling or having holiday you may also want to use a larger antenna like the TL-ANT2405C or TL-ANT2408C. Just put the antenna at a convenient location and plug the USB adapter in your PC or laptop.
The WR422G support 802.11b/g and has an output power of 100mW (20dBm), security is up to WPA/WPA2 with TKIP/AES.
Added bonus is PSP support!

Review and test for QNAP TurboStation TS-809 Pro: Excellence award!
The guys from WhichNAS did a review and test on the QNAP TS-809 Pro. It's real muscle from QNAP according to their test.
Verdict
The QNAP TS-809PRO shows a clean pair of heels. QNAP designed this unit with dominance in mind, and dominate they should. If potential customers can inspire their requirements and converge with the features this unit has coupled with the top-notch performance, ease of use and value for money it offers, it will be a match made in heaven. The TS-809PRO just pips the Thecus N5500 in the performance arena, but leaves all other competitors for dust. This is the fastest NAS we have tested to date and clearly with all the other fine attributes, we have to congratulate QNAP for being a worthy winner of our first ever Excellence award. These are not easy to attain. This of course means we now expect bigger and better QNAP NAS products going forward. Well done, QNAP.

Ajax enabled web based file explorer on QNAP: AjaXplorer
Do you own a QNAP? Do you want to be able to manage your files anywhere you go? (you still need to have internet access). Sure you could use FTP.... but now there is AjaXplorer! A neat and easy to install QPKG package from QNAP.
AjaXplorer enables you to manage your files in a webbrowser. AjaXplorer is, what's in a name, AJAX enabled so you get a real file manager look and feel. Next to managing and organising your files you are also able to edit files on-line. It's limited to text based files of course but it will do the trick for, for example, .php and .txt files. (neat for small changes on your web projects)
You can click on the picture above to see a big screenshot.
I have used it for quite some time now and I'm quite happy. No FTP client to install, if you have a browser (and internet access...) you are able to do your thing. (think of those occasions where you will not be able to install anything, or just don't want to)
Update: I did not notice before
but the AjaXplorer also plays MP3 files/folders from within the browser. Great, now I can play my music on any PC anywhere without copying it.
I suggest to go get the package from QNAP and install it on your device. Clickerdiclick (scroll to the bottom of the page for information, the package itself can be downloaded from within the QPKG manager in the admin panel of your QNAP)
Have fun
Exhibition success for Concept74 lifestyle design, Arclinea
I posted before about the new adventure in lifestyle product designing and selling from my brother in law and his brother. Lately they joined an exhibition called "HUIS" (translated: HOUSE). They have build their own booth and did their own lighting and decorating. It looked great and drew a lot attention generating contacts for their new business. The eye catching piece on their booth was a Arclinea kitchen. Most of the decorations where from their portfolio also (lighting etc.). Do you like industrial design? Do you have ideas but are unable to materialize them into the real thing? Do you need a lighting plan? Get in touch with the guys from Concept74, they do magic!
